Principle Objective
Reporting to the Head of Business Support, the primary objective of the Business Support Manager is to support the financial and commercial performance of the branch network including the ability to sustain, protect, and develop margin enhancement initiatives, ensuring the profitability and financial health of the business.
Knowledge & Experience
- Qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
- Managing multiple priorities in a complex organisation
- Fundamental understanding of key commercial and margin drivers within the building materials and plumbing industries, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Strong analytical skills
- Proven experience in managing a team, with a track record of working on own imitative
- Excellent Microsoft Office and presentation skills. Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor margin enhancement initiatives across the organisation, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
- Provide training to all sales staff on margin-related strategies and best practices, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and tools to drive profitability.
- Prepare the annual budget, ensuring that all financial planning is aligned with business objectives and margin enhancement goals.
- Manage and control non-trade overhead costs, identifying and implementing cost-saving measures without compromising operational efficiency.
Essential Competencies
Ability to work on own initiative
Strong working knowledge of Excel and our internal Accustar system or any bespoke ERP System.
Proficient in margin management, cost control, and budget preparation, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial goals.
Ability to communicate complex financial and operational information effectively to various stakeholders, including senior management and team members.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and influence key stakeholders.
Strong decision-making skills.

- Demonstrable increase in margin through the successful implementation of margin enhancement initiatives.
