General Manager - Proline - Inchicore, Dublin 8

Part of Grafton Group Plc, Chadwicks Group is the market leader in the builder’s merchanting industry in the Republic of Ireland. The core business is through the traditional Builders Merchants division. As one of the leading suppliers of ironmongery and accessory products, Proline provides design solutions for architects, interior designers and specifiers on all their ironmongery needs. Offering a vast range of products which include invisible door solutions, door and window hardware, joinery products and airtightness products.

Principle Objective

Reporting to the MD of the Specialist Products Division, the Proline General Manager should be a self-motivated and results driven manager who can direct and manage Proline’s growing business and implement effective programs to drive profitable growth. The GM is responsible for managing the day to day running of Proline and developing and implementing the strategy for growth. The GM should have an entrepreneurial spirit and ensure we successfully maintain and grow long term relationships with customers and generate new business.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Significant experience of managing a team and strong leadership qualities  
  • Strong sales experience in the construction industry, preferably in the ironmongery sector  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to solve problems and make decisions, as well as think laterally and offer creative solutions  
  • A third level qualification in Business/Management etc. is desirable  
  • Strong work ethic and highly organised  

Role Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily business operations and manage your team ensuring clear targets and objectives are defined and met on a regular basis  
  • Create a sales-driven culture within the division, driving the sales team to ensure excellent levels of customer service and exceptional operating standards are maintained in their regions  
  • Responsible for working with and maintaining the existing portfolio of customers while continuing to seek new opportunities to increase our market share  
  • Allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs
  • Develop strategic plans for operational and sales activities to grow the business both within the Chadwicks Group and externally  
  • Identify new opportunities to develop and grow the business  
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers  
  • Ensure that health & safety rules, policies, and procedures are being followed  
  • Continue to increase profitability of the division while maintaining margin levels
