Head of Business Development – Heating & Plumbing

Principle Objective

Reporting to the Sales Director, the Head of Heating & Plumbing Sales Development will play a pivotal role in the development and management of the National Key Accounts for Heating & Plumbing Contractors and the coordination of branch Heating & Plumbing teams to develop relationships and business planning resulting in the delivery of product sales in line with the overall company strategy and targets. This role focuses heavily on the managerial aspects, providing direction, planning, controlling, and monitoring of a team of sales personnel in relation to the specialist Heating & Plumbing category.

 

Knowledge & Experience 

  •  At least five years’ experience within the sales organisation of a Heating, Plumbing, HVAC company, or B2B environment.
  • Sales management/KAM experience and the use of a CRM system.
  • Strong knowledge of the construction process and industry essential.
  • Proficient in Information Technology.
  •  Higher Academic Education (Business, Engineering, or Construction Studies) preferably, or other related discipline.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • To identify, engage with and grow through negotiation, existing key accounts and potential new business opportunities in line with company sales objectives and adhering to strict company-based Credit management. Work closely with the building materials sales teams to ensure sales synergies and project opportunities are maximised to their full potential for the benefit of the entire group.
  •  To establish a structure which continually develops existing areas of expertise as well as develop new business opportunities in areas of Sustainability & HVAC.
  • To provide direction to the external branch H & P Sales resources providing support, training, coaching and development to meet the annual sales and margin budgets across all regions with responsibility for all products.
  • To direct the Regional H & P Sales Managers to identify appropriate project opportunities and to monitor progress and activity to support the project pipeline ensuring Chadwicks develops competitive advantage and leads the market.      
  • To direct and support the H & P sales counter teams through the regional structure, by ensuring regular support visits, scheduled monthly sales reviews and working closely with branch managers on day-to-day H & P activity.
  • Responsible for the Development and implementation of Account and action plans.
  • Conduct regular assessments of the market needs and competition’s capability relating to project specification and support, providing alternative tactics, solutions and support.
  • Responsible for the implementation and on-going development and supplier relationships of project tracking tools such as CRM and any Lead Providers.
  • Oversee the growth of the Commercial Ware & Mechanical department. Provide leadership and line level management to key team members. Ensure leads & opportunities are maximised throughout the network.
  • Work closely with the H & P category team to ensure regular feedback on products and supply is provided and escalate issues as appropriate. Be aware of new market trends and product development, particularly in the areas of Sustainability and work in partnership with relevant stakeholders internally to ensure Chadwicks remains market leader.
  • Work closely with other relevant brands within the Chadwicks Group to establish strong relationships that ensures that all brands work cohesively to maximise their own market share.
  • Responsible for the preparation of short/mid/long term project and sales forecasts in conjunction with the Sales Directors, H & P RSM & relevant Regional Director, including the management of team expense budgets.
  • To ensure the management of the team activity for all project, company, contact, diary and activities within CRM daily to ensure regular and effective communication across all relevant functions. Responsible for reporting performances based on CRM data output / standard reports.
  • Responsible for the safety aspects within the area of own responsibility particularly around site safety & on the phone.
