Internal Auditor - Chadwick's Support Office - Clondalkin, Dublin 22

Part of Grafton Group Plc, Chadwicks Group is the market leader in the builder’s merchanting industry in the Republic of Ireland. The core business is through the traditional Builders Merchants division. Main brands include Chadwicks, Cork Builders Providers, Davies & Telfords. In addition, and through organic growth and acquisitions the Group have established a range of brands which are close to the core but offer a uniquely different range of products. These include Heitons Steel, Panelling Centre, Morgans Timber, Proline, Sitetech & Rooney’s Hardware.

Principle Objective

The role is to carry out internal audit functions within our businesses and to assist with the development of the Internal Audit function within Chadwicks Group. The individual will work with the existing Chadwicks Group Internal Audit Team and will report directly to the Head of Risk, Compliance & Internal Audit.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Have a good understanding of the Building Materials business and the existing processes and controls within our business.
  • Have a high level of computer literacy and the ability to handle analytical data.
  • Have a Full Clean Driving Licence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out Internal Audit Reviews including planning and execution of audit work and testing.
  • Drafting Audit Reports including findings and recommendations, agreeing implementation actions with Management and performing follow up activity on those actions.
  • Assisting with the development of the Internal Audit Programme, including identification of areas for potential further audit work and assisting with the development of the audit function.
  • Ensure that Internal Audit provides an “added value” to our branch network
  • Identifying risks in existing systems / procedures, notifying Management of those risks and assisting in improving systems / procedures.
  • Assisting with producing / revising new and existing policy and procedures documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with Accounting Policies, Corporate Governance and legislation.
  • Liaising with Internal Control Functions of other Companies within Grafton Group.
  • Assisting with adhoc investigations, projects, reporting and presentations.

  • Be willing to travel as the role will involve some travel within Ireland
