Job Title: Merchandiser & Product Specifier – Architectural Ironmongery

Role Overview:
We are looking for a commercially minded and design-savvy Merchandiser & Product Specifier to support the development and presentation of our architectural ironmongery range across multiple retail and trade channels across the Republic of Ireland. This hybrid role combines visual merchandising, range management, and light technical specification, ensuring our ironmongery products are well-positioned for both trade and end-user markets.
The successful candidate will manage product presentation in-store, coordinate range reviews, and assist clients with product selections that balance aesthetics, compliance and commercial value.
Role will involve training in Dublin 8 and other group business initially before covering other customers in Ireland.
Key Responsibilities:
Merchandising & Commercial Strategy
- Develop and maintain retail and trade counter merchandising plans for ironmongery displays.
- Ensure products are properly labelled and priced.
- Work with the Category and Property team to produce planograms, layout guides, and visual merchandising assets for stores and showrooms.
- Manage the product lifecycle — from introduction and presentation to discontinuation.
- Support marketing with promotional campaigns, catalogues, and digital content.
- Use information from Head Office and Manager to review sales and margin performance to optimise product mix and range depth.
Product Specification & Client Support
- Advise customers, contractors, and sales reps on suitable ironmongery solutions for common applications.
- Liaise with Category team to ensure commercial viability, stock availability, and quality standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Category, buying, marketing, and technical specification teams to align commercial and compliance goals.
- Deliver internal product knowledge and merchandising training sessions.
- Support at trade shows, showroom events, and supplier demonstrations.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Background in merchandising, category management, or product coordination (preferably in building materials or hardware).
- Understanding of architectural ironmongery ranges (locks, hinges, handles, door furniture).
- Commercially focused with excellent product presentation and visual merchandising skills.
- Competent in Excel, Word & Outlook.
Desirable:
- Experience in retail or trade sales environments (ironmongery, DIY, or construction).
- Ability to prepare basic ironmongery schedules or door set proposals for smaller projects
- Awareness of GAI (Guild of Architectural Ironmongers) standards.
- Basic technical understanding of ironmongery compliance (fire ratings, accessibility).
