Stock Controller – Central Warehouse
Part of Grafton Group Plc, Chadwicks Group is the market leader in the builder’s merchanting industry in the Republic of Ireland. Principle Objective
The Stock Controller will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of our inventory, ensuring accurate stock levels, timely stock replenishment, and smooth operations across our warehouse and distribution channels.
Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience in stock control, inventory management, or a similar role within a warehouse or building supplies environment
- Strong knowledge of stock management software (e.g., ERP systems, WMS) and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with different departments
- Knowledge of building materials and supplies would be an advantage but is not essential
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot stock discrepancies
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate stock levels by regularly updating and managing stock records within the inventory system.
- Stock Audits: Perform regular stock counts (both scheduled and random) and coordinate with the Warehouse team to ensure the physical stock matches recorded stock in the system.
- Warehouse Coordination: Work closely with the warehouse team to ensure proper storage, organization, and handling of building supplies, ensuring stock is easily accessible and stored according to safety and quality standards.
- Delivery Management: Oversee the receipt and inspection of incoming goods, ensuring they meet order specifications and quality standards.
- Order Processing: Ensure accurate picking, packing, and dispatch of orders, and resolve discrepancies or stock issues promptly.
- Reporting & Documentation: Generate regular stock reports, highlighting discrepancies, slow-moving items, and opportunities for optimisation. Keep accurate records of stock movements and transactions.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as company policies regarding stock handling and storage.
- Branch Network Support: Assist the Branch Network with inventory queries and ensure timely resolution of stock-related issues.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify areas for process improvement and work with management to implement efficient stock control practices.
Essential Competencies
- Forklift or other warehouse equipment certification
- Experience with barcoding systems or RFID technology
- Basic knowledge of supply chain and logistics principles
