The Opportunity / Who We Seek

Reporting to the Head of Category, the Category Insights Analyst plays a pivotal role in generating insights from large datasets.

They will discover how data can be used to answer questions and solve problems related to buying, procurement, category analysis, promotional planning along with a new opportunity within demand planning, and space utilisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage data-driven insights to inform and support buying strategies, enhancing decision-making with actionable, strategic recommendations.
  • Conduct advanced analysis of category performance, identifying key trends, growth opportunities and areas for cost optimisation.
  • Analyse supplier performance data to provide recommendations on supplier relationships, renegotiations and process improvements that align with company goals.
  • Evaluate commercial agreements by analysing supplier terms, income structures and compliance to maximise value and support negotiation strategies.
  • Support promotional planning through analysis of promotional performance, ROI, promotional effectiveness and recommendations to optimise future activity.
  • Lead demand planning analysis, identifying volume trends, forecasting requirements and supporting alignment between commercial and supply chain teams.
  • Assess space utilisation using data-led insights to optimise product positioning, assortment efficiency and space allocation within store or digital environments.
  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate product profitability and support the company’s broader financial objectives.
  • Develop data-driven sustainability insights to support the company’s sustainability initiatives and drive progress on long-term environmental goals.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and collaborate cross functions to enhance data integration processes, reporting and dashboards.
  • Present complex insights in a clear, actionable format to stakeholders, influencing decision-making at all levels of the organization.

 

Requirements & Key Competencies

  • Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Information Management or a related field.
  • Proven experience in delivering actionable insights in buying, category management, finance, commercial planning or supply chain.
  • Strong ability to translate data into meaningful insights, driving strategy and business performance.
  • Expertise in data analysis techniques, report writing and presenting findings.
  • Statistical background and experience using analytics software to uncover trends.
  • Skilled in crafting insightful reports and presentations to influence business decisions.
  • Understanding of the procurement process, supply chain management, demand forecasting and financial analysis, with a focus on delivering business value.
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of category space planning principles and tools (planograms, space efficiency evaluation etc.).
  • Exposure to commercial agreement structures, promotional mechanics and pricing strategies is advantageous.
